"He was a trustee of the town of Brookhaven, elected 5 April, 1791, 3 April, 1792 and 2 April, 1793; president of the trustees in 1809; assessor 3 April, 1798 and likewise commissioner of schools; justice of the peace; and on other dates was elected as a trustee and assessor of the town. He was also a major in the Suffolk county militia. His will, dated 3 December, 1808, was proved 8 January, 1810 and is recorded in Riverhead, New York, liber C., p. 61 of Wills."
