TUCKAHOE— Henry Joseph Uebelacker of 269 Columbus Avenue, retired piano maker, died yesterday at his home at the age of eighty-three.
Four weeks ago last Saturday, Mr. Uebelacker, with his wife, the former Mary Brown, celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary.
Born in New York City, June 10, 1867, son of the late Christian J. and Augustine Beckler Uebelacker, he had lived in Tuckahoe for more than 52 years and was a communicant of the Church of the Immaculate Conception.
A journeyman craftsman in the days when a piano maker was required to know every facet of the industry, Mr. Uebelacker was associated at different times with Hallenberg and Farbel, Hardman Peck, Aeolian, Steck, Steinway and the Chickering piano manufacturing companies.
Proud of the fact that no member of his family ever was drafted into the armed' services of the nation — but enlisted voluntarily, Mr. Uebelacker had three sons who served during World War I, and five grandsons who served during World War II.
Besides his wife he leaves the three sons, Christian and Oscar Uebelacker of Tuckahoe and Matthew M. Uebelacker of Mount Vernon; five daughters, Mrs. Marguerite White of Yonkers, Miss Marie Uebelacker and Mrs. Katherine Bonnette of Tuckahoe, Mrs. Julia Hess of Mount Vernon, and Mrs. Dorothy Nakraseive of the Bronx; a sister, Mrs. Julia Winterhalter of Hackensack, N.J., 14 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A Mass of Requiem will be offered Wednesday at 10 A. M. at Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will take place at Holy Mount Cemetery. Friends may call at the McGrath and Son Funeral Home, 20 Cedar Street, Bronxville.
