      Died at San Simeon by the Sound Nursing Home

      Frederick W. Gardiner, a lifelong resident of Greenport, died on Jan. 14 at San Simeon by the Sound nursing home after a short illness. He was 86. He was born on April 16, 1918, to Parker and Lena Gardiner. For many years he was employed by the Greenport branch of Mobil Oil Corporation. He was a mason, a member of Sterling Cemetery Association and Church of the Holy Trinity, and a 35-year employee of the Greenport school. Mr. Gardiner is survived by his wife, Eunice, and a sister, Jane Sachs of Aventura, Fla. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
