      MRS. FREN MELTZ
      PORTER -- Mrs. Bertha Helen Meltz, 38 of 115 Sherman St., died at 5 a.m. today in Doctors hospital, Michigan City, after a lingering illness.
      She lived here 30 years. Born in Texas, Nov 19, 1898, she was the daughter of Sam and Ida Hiltpold. She was married to Fred Meltz in Gary in 1919.
      Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Miss Joyce Ann at home; four sons, Raymond of Hammond, Robert of Porter, Richard of Jacksonville, FL., and Frederick William Meltz, Jr., of Long Beach CA; a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Lloyd of Chicago; three brothers, Werner Hiltpold of Valparaiso, Walter Hiltpold of Memphis, and Herman Hiltpold of Denver; and four grandchildren
      Body is at Carl Edmonds Funeral home, Chesterton, and burial in McCool cemetery.
