Charles served in the trenches at Ypres & Givenchy, being recommended for the MC, he was killed at Kibata in Tanzania (German East Africa), again being recommended for the MC. There is a book that I just got the 4th battallion, 129th Duke of Connaughts Own, where CSB gets 15 mentions (by WS Thatcher). I also have his medals, his death penny & photograph. The Battle of Kibata (1916) was fought during the East African Campaign of World War I.

It was a very basic qualification but was one of the requirements for obtaining a warrant as Assistant Surgeon in the Royal Navy." according to Malcolm H. Walker-Kinnear.

- According to Death Notice in The Times of 29/Oct/1856, Colin Arrott Browning died at 3 a.m. on Sunday 26th October, at Woolwich, Kent (England). The Morning Chronicle also had a Death Notice on 30/10/1856...

"He made 7 voyages as Surgeon Superintendant on Convict ships to Australia and Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) between 183 And 1849."
