Ocean Takes Lives of Two in Single Day.
Two men lost their lives in the surf at Jacksonville Beach yesterday. ....John C. Abersold, 50, of Arlington died about 5:45 when caught in a run-out near Twentieth Avenue North. Abersold's wife seeing her husband being swept to sea gave the alarm and the Jacksonville Beach Patrol responded quickly, taking the man from the water. Artificial respiration and a resuscitator from Neptune Beach were used upon Abersold simultaneously for an hour at the scene of the tragedy. Efforts to revive him were continued at the Beach Patrol station but he was pronounced dead at 7 P.M. The Abersolds were swimming 12 blocks from the nearest Jacksonville Beach life guard station and three blocks from the nearest Neptune Beach guarded area.
