BABYLON, L.I., Aug. 4---Sidney Brown, a local merchant is lying seriously ill at his home here with concussion of the brain, as a result of being thrown from his wagon this afternoon when it was struck by an automobile being driven by Mrs. Richard Hyde, wife of Richard Hyde, the theatrical man.
The accident was due to tire blowing, and was unavoidable. It occured in front of the country home of Mrs. Annie S. Arnold. Mr. Brown is past 60 years of age, but still it is thought he will recover. Mrs. Hyde did all that was possible for the injured man.

From the "South Side Signal" of Babylon, Long Island Under the heading "SAYVILLE RECORD": Saturday, July 05, 1873 Page: 2
--Found Dead.---The dead body of the missing man, Mr. Alfred Brown, was found in the woods, about a mile from his house on Sunday morning last, and in such a putrid condition that it could with difficulty be removed to a place of burial. The 19th of June was an extremely hot day, almost too much for any man to endure, especially in the woods, where not a breath of air was stirring. The old man died from sunstroke, and apparently without a struggle. Justice Strong, assisted by Dr. Van Deinse, empaneled a jury, who rendered a verdict that death ensued from exhaustion and excessive heat. Too much praise cannot be awarded to the citizens of this place for their unceasing effort in search of the body. Especial mention could be made of a number of our people, prominent among whom stands Supervisor John Wood, who with his characteristic whole souled effort in such cases, did all in his power to stimulate and encourage..................for ten days the search of the missing man.

JOHN GREEN bought of Ann Rogers, widow of
William, May 18, 1672, a tract of land in or near the
present site of the village of Huntington, Long Island.
In the following year he paid taxes. I n 1684 his
family consisted of wife, Elizabeth, and the following
    children: John, born 1675; Elizabeth, b. 1677;
    Thomas, b. 1679; William, b. 1682; Amy, b. 1684.
    Greene Family. 439
In 1699 he sells what seems to be his homestead, and
disappears from the Huntington town records. In
the same year (1699) John Green (probably, though
not certainly, the same John) bought land on the
south side of Long Island, " one half of Siscr's Neck."
The records of Islip go back to 1721, and in 1723
William Green appears as assessor and overseer of the
poor. From that time the name of Green does not
disappear from the books until wc find the name of
Willed Green in 1785. Willett owned one half of t he
neck of land where Sayville now stands, though it is
doubtful whether this is the " Siscr's Neck" mentioned
above. His brothers were John, who owned land adjoining
on the west, Obadiah, who moved up into
Queens County, and another, who settled in New
York State at a place called " Nine Partners." The
brother John bad sons, John, Thomas, and William.
Willett Green bad two wives, who were sisters, named
Willis, from Patchogue. His only son, Isaac, was born
in Sayville, married Charity Newton, and had the
following children : Caleb, Clark (who died in
Brooklyn in 1891, aged 74), Willett, Henry, Samuel,
Debby Ann, who married James M. Edwards, of Sayville,
Sarah, Elizabeth, Anor, Joanna, and Rachel.
