    Published: Thursday, Jan. 4 2007 12:14 p.m. MST

James C. Goins 1920 ~ 2006 James Clarence Goins passed away on December 16, 2006. He was born April 2, 1920 in Pocatello, Idaho as the third of seven children to Edward K Goins and Ethel M. Steward Goins. He married Yvonne Thomas of Salt Lake City on June 25, 1942. They were the proud parents of five children, three sons and twin daughters. While a teenager he worked as a Red Cap at the Union Pacific Train Station. He was selected to travel to Sun Valley, Idaho, an upscale ski resort for the rich and famous, to work for the Union Pacific. He met many movie stars of that era. "Sun Valley," a well-known film, was made there and he was in the movie playing the role of himself as a Red Cap at the train station. James was baptized in the Pocatello, Idaho Seventh Day Adventist Church as a young man. James was drafted into the United States Army in or around 1942. During his tour of duty he served in Europe and the South Pacific. He received an honorable discharge as Staff Sergeant. He had many war stories to share. His eldest son James was born while he was overseas. On August 3, 1990 James retired from the United States Postal Service after 45 years of service. He received a Service Award for his honorable career. Anyone who knew James knew he enjoyed eating and Chuck-A-Rama was his favorite restaurant. James will be missed by his family and friends. He will be remembered as the soldier that never lost his courage following the war. He stood up for what he believed. We will remember his sense of humor, his war stories, bowling stories, his strong work ethic, and the time we spent together as a family. James was preceded in death by his wife Yvonne, his first granddaughter Tara Goins, siblings Ramona Anderson, Edward S Goins, and Louis J Goins. He is survived by his sons, James and wife Vickie, Pierre, and Jon and wife Jeanette; daughters Yvonne Goins, and Yvette and husband Luis Lopez; grandchildren James, Tanira, Tashiana, Denzel, Kalin, Nydia, Manuel, and Sammuel; one great-grandchild, Trevon; three younger sisters, Ruth Bookhardt, Donna Kibble, Jeanne Hartsfield, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and an aunt. A visitation will be held Friday, January 5th from 6 - 8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 6th at 2 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church, 1090 South State Street. Interment, Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Online condolences at www.larkinmortuary.com
