    Son of Clarence Elbert Peterson, a bayman, and Julia Agnes Sweezey, husband of Helen K. Conklin, whom he married on August 16, 1917 in Greenport, Suffolk, NY.
    On June 5, 1917, William was working as an express driver for Adams Express Company in Greenport, L.I. when he registered for the draft during World War I.
    William Henry Peterson was inducted into military service on September 19, 1917 at the age of 23 years, 4 months. At that time, he gave his place of birth at Patchogue, NY and his residence as 3rd Street, Greenport, Suffolk. It was stated that he served with Co. B., 305 MG Battalion until the time of his honorable discharge at the rank of Corporal on January 17, 1918 due to physical disability.
    In 1920, William H. Peterson, aged 26, and his wife, Helen K. Peterson, aged 24, could be found living in Southold, NY. William was shown to be a clerk for the Quarter Master Corps.
    In 1930, William and Helen could be found living on Broome Street in Manhattan, NY, with children, Russell, aged 11, Catherine, aged 9, Eunice, aged 5, Clara, aged 4 and Elizabeth, aged 2. William was described as a building painter.
    In 1940, his wife, Helen, widowed, aged 49, was living on East 90th Street, New York City, with their children, Russell, aged 21, Kathryn, aged 19, Eunice, aged 15, Clara, aged 14, Jessie, aged 12, and William, aged 9.

    Died at Mather Memorial Hospital

    Obituary - Clarence Peterson, 85, of 148 Bianca Court, Patchogue, died Saturday at the Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson after an illness.A retired bayman, Mr. Peterson was born in Patchogue and had lived here most of his life.
    He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Frank Murgatroyd, of Patchogue and Mrs. Eunice Stoll, of Wyoming; a son, Albert Peterson of Patchogue; a sister, Mrs. James Barker of Patchogue and two brothers, George of South Carolina and Herbert of New Canaan, Conn.
    Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Pettit Funeral Home with the Rev. Stanley Dixon of the Church of the Nazarene officiating, and interment was in Waverly Cemetery.

    OBITUARY
    Mrs. Clarence Peterson
    Mrs. Clarence Peterson died on
    Sunday, at the Central Islip State
    Hospital, where she had for many
    year been a patient. Surviving her
    are her husband of Patchogue, two
    daughters, Mrs. Sadie Murgatroyd. of
    Patchogue, and Mrs. George Stoll, of
    Bayport, besides two sons, William
    and Elbert Peterson, of Patchogue.
    Funeral services were held from
    Ruland's Chapel on Wednesday, the
    Rev. Louis H. Johnston, pastor of the
    Congregational Church officiating,
    and the burial was in Lakeview cem-
    etery.
