Arnold was in the Navy beginning in 1920. In 1933 he was in Cristobal, Canal Zone operating radio station NY2AB. NY2AB was a U.S. Navy radio station, but I have not yet determined if was an official Navy military station or an amateur radio station located on the naval base. In that era amateur radio operators were allowed to communicate with non-amateur stations.
