John Tuthill was definitely not born in America, as his father and mother and he arrived in Boston on the Mary Anne of Yarmouth in June, 1637, almost two years after his birth. This is confirmed by the passenger list and the records of the Town of Hingham, Massachussetts, where he and his parents settled. He was not Christened before his birth. He and his parents came to Southold Township on Long Island about 1644, the year his father sold his property in Hingham. His uncle, John the Pilgrim, was the Constable in Southold, having held the position since 1642, and he was added to the rolls of the New Haven Constitution in 1644. John's name appears on many deeds in the Township, and he held the title of Esquire. He was most likely born in Tharston or Saxlingham, Norfolk County, England, a part of East Anglia.John married Sarah FROST.
