Emily Patterson Olsen was born Feb. 7, 1914, in Carey, Idaho, and passed away Nov. 25, 2015, in Twin Falls, Idaho.
She was the sixth child of seven born to Thomas Samuel Patterson and Bertha Maretta Markham. She was married for time and all eternity to her high school sweetheart, Vincent William Olsen, on April 30, 1937, in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She is survived by her son, Paul Olsen (Vonnie) of Carey, Idaho, and her daughter, Karen Stannard (Steve) of Graham, Wash., six grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great -grandchildren.
Emily’s was a life of Christ-like love and service to family, friends and those in need. She was a gifted writer, public speaker, published poetess and storyteller. She honored her pioneer heritage in all aspects of her life with her example of faith, family and service.
Her family expresses our appreciation to the staff, past and present, of Heritage Assisted Living, who have cared for her with love and compassion.
Funeral services, under the direction of Wood River Chapel, were held at 1 p.m., Monday, Nov. 30, at the Carey LDS Chapel, with burial at the Carey Cemetery. Friends may visit www.woodriverchapel.com to share a message, photo or story and to light a candle.
