  Born at Hailey Hospital attended University of Oregon received a Purple Heart Medal Died at home cremated, cremains will be scatted by Patterson Peak in Wood River Valley, Blaine County PATTERSON, Stephen Robert (Age 64) Died at his home in Spokane, WA on August 20, 2012. He was born December 13, 1947 in Hailey, ID to Mark and Elizabeth Patterson. After graduating from Wood River High School, Steve enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served a tour of duty in Vietnam in which he earned a Purple Heart. He returned home to attend the University of Oregon, during which time he met his wife, Dianne Wells. Steve and Dianne were married on August 12, 1972 in Harrisburg, OR. He then served one tour in the U.S. Navy. Steve and his family resided in Caldwell, ID, Boise, ID, and Las Cruces, NM before settling for good in Spokane in 1987. In Spokane, he enjoyed his work for KSPS and KEWU before retiring in the spring of 2011. Steve is survived by his wife Dianne (Wells) Patterson of Spokane; their children Daniel and wife Shannon Patterson of Hoquiam, WA, Beth (Patterson) and husband Charles Engelhard of Spokane, and Joshua Patterson of Spokane; his five grandchildren: Allison, Foster and Toby Patterson, Samantha and Alexandra Engelhard; siblings Mark Patterson of Everett, WA, Douglas Patterson of Yakima, WA, Margaret Walth of Boise, ID, David Patterson of Everett, WA and Elizabeth Patterson of Yakima, WA. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 24, 2012, 2:00 PM at the LDS Chapel at 4444 E. 43rd Ave. in Spokane. Memorial donations can be made to KSPS or to KEWU.
