Mr. R.H. Browning died near his home near Nankipoo last Friday, August 31st. He is survived by wife and six children. In early life he was united with the Methodist Church, was always at his post of duty, actively identified with all its institutions, true to its very interest, and ready to do his part as a faithful soldier for the cross. For 25 years he was superintendent of the Sabbath school at Melville. He represented Lauderdale County in the 44th General Assembly in Tennessee and was known as an active member with an eye single and voice alert for which he thought just and best legislation. He was a gallant and brave soldier under the leadership of General Nathan Bedford Forrest, the "great wizard of the saddle" for four years.
