  Earl was fire chief in Shelter Island when he died. He died when the barge he was working on overturned in very cold water off the South Ferry between Shelter Island and Sag Harbor, NY. His body was recovered on Wednesday (date unknown) before he was buried by his cousin, Barice Nevel (son of his mother's sister, May). Dorothy had a daughter, Kathleen, who was always considered Earl's daughter, and part and parcel of the Price family. Nevertheless, Earl never formally adopted her. She was six when he died.
