  He was captain of a freighter that plyed between Moriches and New York City. Obituary - Center Moriches- John W. Osborn, a much respected and life long resident of this village passed away last Tuesday afternoon at the age of 76 years. Mr. Osborn followed the water for many years, but for a few years he had been in poor health. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church from which funeral services were held on Friday afternoon, the Rev. Joseph Guernsey officiating. Mr. Osborn leaves a widow, Mary Elizabeth Osborn, and one daughter, Mrs. Jesse L. Smith, of Westhampton. Interment was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
