- According to Fred Elgin Jayne, grandson of Arch Latimer, Arch was a proficient fisherman. He spent all of his time at the Colorado River fishing. His wife Nora believed that he fell into the river and drowned, his body never being recovered. Fred cannot remember exactly when this was, but sometime before 1920. Arch's sons, Fred and Les, both felt that he had simply taken off to the west coast and deserted his family. Both retained strong feelings about his disappearance, and when Nora married William Lupton, they took his last name.
