  Clay Pitts is now Northport Born in Clay Pitts (now Northport), he was the son of Caleb Ketcham and Abigail Rogers, the husband of Mary Van Sise, whom he married about 1845 and father of Albert (married Sarah Catherine, married Sarah Erickson Benjamin), John P. (married Katherine C. Dunn), James S. (married Sarah Josephine Greene, married Alice J.), Abraham Morris (married Mary Jane Wells), Anna E. (married Samuel Augustus Howard), William S. (married Sadie Fredwell), and Sarah Caroline Ketcham (married Robert Rowlinson Holmes). In 1850, John Ketcham, aged 66, was living in Huntington, NY, with his wife, Mary Ketcham, aged 25, and children, Elbert Ketcham, aged 6, John Ketcham, aged 3, and James S. Ketcham, aged 10 months. John was shown to be a fisherman. In 1860, John Ketcham, aged 70, was living in Islip, NY, with his wife, Mary Ketcham, aged 36, and children, Albert Ketcham, aged 17, John Ketcham, aged 13, James Ketcham, aged 9, Anna Ketcham, aged 6, and Abraham M. Ketcham, aged 4. John, the elder, was shown to be a bayman. Obituary - Sayville, March 1, (1870), after a short illness, John Ketcham, aged 87.
