PITTSBURG —
Janet F. Kenney, 88, of Pittsburg, died at 4:51 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at the Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center.
She was born January 30, 1920 at Long Island, New York to Manley and Alma Raynor. She graduated from Shelter Island, NY High School and later attended two years of college at Long Island.
In 1938, she married Conrad C. Hanson. He preceded her in death in 1963. She then married Spencer Kenney in 1966. He preceded her in death in 1994.
Mrs. Kenney worked as the office manager for W.T. Grant Company in Pasadena, California, as well as First National Bank.
She lived in Phoenix, Arizona until moving to Pittsburg in 1995. She volunteered at numerous Veterans Hospitals in the Phoenix, Arizona area for American Legion Auxiliary. After moving to Pittsburg, she became a member of the South Broadway Baptist Church and was active with The Sunnysiders for many years. Most of all, she was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include a son, William “Bill” Hanson of Pittsburg; a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Roberds of Pittsburg; three grandchildren, Brad Hanson and wife, Jennifer of Cassville, MO, Tara Snow and husband, Brad, of Pittsburg and Stacey Webb and husband, Rick of Pittsburg; and eight great-grandchildren, Adam Hanson, Abby Hanson, Ali Hanson, Aaron Snow, Maggie Snow, Annie Snow, Megan Webb and Jake Webb.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday (May 10) at the Brenner Mortuary with Rev. Richard Tackett officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Brenner Mortuary, where friends may call after 12 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family suggests memorials to Cornerstone Village. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762.
