Hammond- Mrs Wilbur F Hammond died at her home on Central Ave Greenport
yesterday morning from arteriosclerosis in the 80th year of her age. Her
maiden name was Frances H Terry, daughter of Henry H Terry of Orient, one of
Southold TownÂ’s most prominent citizens of the time. She was born May 17, 1838
at Orient. Mrs Hammond was a graduate of the Wilmington College. She was a
bright woman and had a host of friends.
Besides her husband she leaves three sons, Leroy of Jamaica, Wilbur F Jr of
Bridgeport and E Court of Greenport; a brother Henry H Terry of Orient; and two
grandchildren, Ruth and Leroy Hammond. Funeral services have not been decided
upon at this writing, but they will probably be either Sunday or Monday
afternoon.
