MOUNT VISION - Born in West Germany, Anna immigrated to the United States where she entered through Ellis Island at 3-years-old. She proudly became a United States citizen shortly after her high school graduation.
Her early years were spent in Brooklyn, eventually moving to a small farm in Roosevelt that she referred to as "heaven" with her parents and younger sister.
Anna married Richard J. Molloy, who passed in 1981, with whom she had one daughter, Patricia Molloy McLean who passed in 1991, and migrated north to New Lisbon in 1957.
Her experience in the advertising department at Newsday prepared her for a successful career as Secretary to the Dean in the Home Economics department at SUNY Oneonta, where she worked happily until her retirement.
She was a devoted member of the Eastern Star, and in her youth maintained the title of District Deputy Grand Matron in Otsego and Schoharie Counties respectively for some years.
Over evening cocktails at a frog pond with friends, Anna and Richard, with the support of their family and community, turned a dream of opening a campground into reality. Meadow-Vale Campsites opened for business in the summer of 1971.
Anna was devoted to her family, caring for youth and elder alike. With an open heart she was always willing to offer a gentle hand and firm advice to her granddaughter, Amie; great-granddaughters, Brittany and Kaylee; nieces and nephews Ken (Martha), Michael (Lindora), Thomas, Deborah (Steven), Diane, Deidre(Gary), Robert; and their beloved children.
Her door was always open and her happy laughter will resonate through the halls of our homestead where her legacy will live on. Auf Wiedersehen Anna.
Please join our family at Johnston Funeral Home in Morris for an intimate candlelight service at 5 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 31 to celebrate her life.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Zion Episcopal Church in Morris is greatly appreciated.
