Notes - His 3rd wife was Ida Bunce Sammis, the first woman to represent Suffolk County in the New York State Assembly; at one time he was a wealthy man "with a very comfortable income"; he was "in easy circumstances and had an assured income from his investments"; had been a medical doctor at Babylon, Suffolk County, L. I.; retired in 1906; after his 3rd marriage to Mrs. Sammis, his "estate had dwindled"; moved to Watertown, N. Y. & was committed to St. Lawrence State Hospital in Ogdensburg, N. Y. were he died; he was buried in Potter's Field, Ogdensburg in an $8 coffin by New York State; his widow was sued by Mrs. Olga Gaylord of Albany, N. Y., Dr. Woodruff's adopted daughter, over the estate; "friends" in Suffolk County were "outraged" over his burial in an $8.00 coffin in Potter's Field & had him removed to Cedar Grove to be by his 1st wife; see the Huntington paper "Long Island" 19 January 1934 for an account of the lawsuit by Mrs. Gaylord against Dr. Woodruff's widow, the former Mrs. Ida B. Sammis
