Two reasons First in the 1880 census Alfred's son is living in Staten Island with Bartlett Brown (grandson of Absalom) refers to him as Cousin. Second Two of Abram Brown daughters (son of Absalom Brown) are included in social activities with Elbert M Brown and listed as relatives with other Brown family members. Sarah Angelica Brown known as Angelica and Eliza Frances Brown. These ladies were unmarried.
