CM'S LARRY NEWINS DIES.
CENTER MORICHES - Mr. W. Lawrence (Larry) Newins, 53, a Republican Committeeman and former Brookhaven Highway department, foreman in the Bay area, died this week.
Mr. Newins was talking to William Loeffler at the Loeffler and Overton Company office, on Montauk Highway, Center Moriches, shortly after noon Tuesday when he suddenly slid to the floor. He was pronounced dead a few minutes later by Dr. John Foster of Center Moriches.
Born in Patchogue and a resident of Beachfern Road, here, Mr. Newins owned and ran the Center Moriches Cement Block plant, and was a distributor for the American Vault Company.
He was a trustee of Mount Pleasant Cemetery of East Moriches; member of the Moriches Yacht Club; exempt member of the Center Moriches Fire Department and belonged to the Riverhead Moose lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Esther; two sons: Richard of Riverhead and Van Field of Center Moriches; a daughter, Lenore Rosemary Newins and his mother, Alice both of Center Moriches; a brother; Earl, of Richmond, Va., and a sister, Mrs. Nancy Conklin of California.
Funeral services for Mr. Newins were officiated at 3 p. m. Friday at the Center Moriches Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Joseph B. Livesay, pastor. Interment followed at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, East Moriches.
