- James R. Hirst, Reeds Spring, Missouri, son of Charles M. and Vera M. (Botdorf) Hirst, was born on July 28, 1926 in Moberly, Missouri and departed this life on January 21, 2014 at the age of 87.
James was a retired executive of South Western Bell and had lived in the area for 35 years, coming from Blue Springs, Missouri. James was an officer in the United States Navy. He was married to Mary (Lance) Hirst. Hunting and fishing were some of the many things in life that James enjoyed. He loved to dance and socialize with his many friends and family. James was a creative person that loved to write poems and had a great sense of humor. He was a proud member of the Our Lady of the Cove Catholic Church of Kimberling City, Missouri.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jack Hirst and Bill Hirst.
Survivors include: his wife, Mary Hirst; two daughters, Jennifer Plaster and Gennifer Flowers; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
