Notes - Obituary - William C. Beale died on Friday morning last at his house on Thompson Street, Port Jefferson, at the age of 70 years. Funeral services were held at 3 o'clock on Sunday at his late home, Rev. Henry D. Schnert, pastor of the M.E. Church, officiating. He is survived by a widow and three step-children, one of whom is William Hatfield of Bridgeport, Conn. He was a son of William C. Beale and Phebe Ann Marvin Beale and was a native of Bellport. When a young man of 16 years of age he came to Port Jefferson and later engaged in the work of stone cutting at the old stand on Main Street near the meat market of G. Ruland. For some time he was associated with the late Henry Robbins in the marble business and has continued in that business up to several months ago when he was forced to retire owing to physical disabilities.
Mr. Beale was a staunch Republican, an active worker in that party and served a four-year term as Justice of the Peace. He possessed sterling qualities which won him the respect of all who knew him and the loss of a good citizen is keenly felt.
