Marriage - June 19, 1948- Miss Claire Olive Gallop, of 2 Shady Hill Square, Cambridge, Mass., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.B. Gallop of Cambridge and Shanghai, China, was married to Walter George Overton Jr., son of Mrs. Walter G. Overton, Sr. of 171 Jayne Avenue, Patchogue, in a pretty wedding ceremony in the Congregational Church, Saturday at 12 noon. The Rev. Gerald E. Boyce officiated. The bride was given in marriage by her uncle, Frank Gallop, of 50 Park Avenue, New York, in the absence of her father. She wore a gown of white marquisette and a fingertip veil held in place by a headpiece of seed pearls. She carried a colonial bouquet of white sweetpeas and Canterbury bells. Miss Jean Gallop of Jackson Heights, was her sister's maid of honor. She was dressed in a pale green dotted swiss gown. She wore yellow daisies in her hair and carried yellow and white daisies. Franklyn H. Overton of Patchogue, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. The ushers were Hebert Gallop Jr., of Lempster, N.H., and Frank Scutari Jr. of Patchogue. The church was attractively decorated with bouquets of white gladioli and white carnations. Miss Edna Jackson, organist, played the wedding marches. A reception was held at Shaber's Rest, Patchogue. Mr. and Mrs. Overton left for a 10-day trip through the Adirondacks and the White Mountains, the bride wearing an aqua Palm Beach suit and a corsage of yellow carnations. The bride is a graduate of Adelphi College, Garden City, class of '48. The bridegroom is serving with the Air Force, now at Camp Kilmer, N.J.

Notes - Obituary - December 10, 1923 - May 11, 2014- "Walter G. "Pep" Overton, Jr., 90, of Englewood, Florida passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014, after a short battle with several health issues.
He was born to Walter G. Overton and Veronica (Jones) Overton in Patchogue, Long Island, New York on December 10, 1923. Pep served on active duty with the U.S. Air Force from 1943 to 1963 during WWII serving in North Africa, Italy and Austria returning in 1946.
He served in Korea and several military installations until his retirement at Westhampton AF Base, Long Island, N.Y. In that same year, he entered banking and retired as a Branch Manager of Barclays Bank in 1983.
After several years as winter residents in their condo at the Wildflower Golf and Country Club in Englewood he and his loving wife Lois, sold their home in Patchogue and the beach cottage located at Long Cove, Fire Island, and moved permanently to Florida in 1992.
He enjoyed many years of surf casting and boating and water sports. He was a life member of the Congregational Church of Patchogue, North Patchogue Fire Department, past Commodore of the Patchogue Domino Yacht Club, Englewood VFW Post #10178 and also a member of Rotonda Elks Lodge #2710.
For many years he and Lois enjoyed playing golf, cruising and traveling north to see relatives and friends. He was predeceased by first wife Claire (Gallop) Overton in 1977 and brother Franklyn H. Overton 1979...."
