    • In March of 1909 Ethel emigrated from Brisbane to Salt Lake City. She wasalmost 3 yrs old. Traveling with the Deans was Maggie Hardman & BessieStewart. Because one adult could bring one child free on the boat, Ethelbecame Ethel Stewart during the voyage. In Salt Lake City, Maggie livedwith the Deans, at 1940 So. 13th East, helping with the Children. Thehouse had only one bedroom the first year. Maggie eventually married JohnKennison and they moved to Woodland, California. They were a frequentvisitor at the Ray and Ethel home in SLC, as were the Tollmans fromHoneyville and Dorothy McMillian and her sister Eve Rule and theDelahanty family from Magna. Ethel attended the Salt Lake high schoolspecializing in bookkeeping. After graduating she worked in theaccounting department of ZCMI before she was married. The small weddingreception was held in the 7th East Home, were the Dean family moved afterleaving 23rd East. Ethel maintained close association with a group ofyoung women that lived above 15th East from the original Parleys Wardarea. They signed their names in a "The old Sugar House Pioneers" bookthey presented to Her. She returned to Australia twice. First, on afamily mission in 1936, second with her husband in 1975. Her motherlived with her in the "60's" during which a lot of Genealogy work wasdone. She entertained many Australia visitors.
