Notes - Maud M. Partlow was born September 18, 1878 in Laclede County, Missouri to Thomas Alfred Partlow and Martha E. Frieze, known as Mattie. Maud's father died in a hunting accident when she was only two years old. She and her siblings grew up in Laclede County, but when their older sister married a Montana man who took his bride back to Montana to live, Maud, her mother, and her siblings all went to Montana too, settling in Cascade County about 1903.
She apparently married soon after arrival in Montana to a man named Keck who died shortly after their marriage, but no marriage record has been found. This fact is known only due to her second marriage record, which names her parents correctly but gives her own name as "Maud Keck"; the marital status on that license indicates she was a widow. Also, in 1905 the local newspaper indicates that Maud Keck and her mother and sister were living in Alberta, Canada but were visiting Great Falls, Montana and staying at a local hotel. This article may imply that Maud's first marriage actually occurred in Alberta, Canada:
Great Falls Tribune Tuesday, April 4, 1905 p6 col 3

Mattie Partlow, Alberta.
Maud remarried to Thomas Streit in Cascade County on May 7, 1907, and they had a son, Joseph C. Streit, in 1910. Maud died in 1916 when her son was only about 6 years old. Thomas remarried about 1918 to second wife, Mary, who reared Joseph. Thomas, Mary, and Joseph moved first to Missoula County, Montana, than later to Chouteau County. Thomas' father, Joseph, born in 1846 in Germany, was probably living with them in 1923 when he died there and was buried in Upper Highwood Cemetery.
