She was a true firebrand who brought light and life into the world. Geraldine Rose Bishop Davison began her journey on August 23, 1926 in Patchogue, New York, where she grew up on the Bishop Shipyard. Her fiery spirit extinguished itself on March 30, 2006. The hearts of her family and friends still burn with loving radiance and remembrance.
Geri fervently loved life, both the eternities of the spiritual and the metaphysical realms and the concrete realm of the individual moment. She brought the spark of her unique exuberance to every encounter. An ardent lover of art, design, architecture, music and nature, she avidly pursued learning, studying and traveling.
She loyally supported others in the development of their talents and embraced the spirituality manifested in different religions and cultures. Above all, she involved herself in life with passion and energy. Her enthusiasm, creativity, and inquisitive spirit initiated the risks she often took; she believed in going out on a limb "since that is where the fruit is", which led her to even greater challengers and triumphs up to the very end; such as skydiving on her seventieth birthday, followed by numerous new careers and traveling alone to Antarctica.
Although she possessed a myriad of talents and never gave up her involvement in theatre, film and radio, she chose first to be a devoted mother and always considered the raising of her children as her greatest accomplishment. Their successes attest to the depth of her commitment, and they are grateful for her sacrifices, advocacy and blessings. Her presence in this world shines on brightly. Geri is survived by her husband, five children, and twelve grandchildren, as well as the many individuals whose lives she touched and enriched.
