    • Armand Paul Larochelle Jr. Succumbed to a long debilitating illness, all while caring more about his family's well being than his own. Devoted and beloved husband to his partner and best friend Simone, of Cumberland and five sons, Michael.G, Andrew N, and Cindy, Gary D. and Kara, Eric C. and Sue, and Adam P. and Dawn.
      A Loving grandfather of Bryon, Derek, Trevor, Nathan, Nicole, Caroline, Erica, Cassidy, Beth, Jacqueline, Cody, and Sarah, great grandfather to Sophia and Adriana. Brother to Eva and Paul.
      Honorably discharged from the US Army in 1958, Armand began his newspaper career as an apprentice at the Pawtucket Times, after which he joined the Providence Journal as a compositor for 38 years, retiring in 2001. He became a hero to his sons when he walked into work during the Blizzard of 1978, saying, "The paper has to be published!"
      Armand served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Patrick's Church in Cumberland, a long-term member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 1472, and The Appalachian Mountain Club.
      Reading, hiking, traveling, telling a funny story, and spending time with his family were his favorite things to do.
      During his retirement, he was able to travel the world and see the places he could only read about earlier in his life as he raised a large family. He and Simone cruised all the world's oceans to explore many sites including The Great Pyramids, Machu Picchu Peru, Alaska, the Amazon, Europe, Turkey, Russia, Chile, Hawaii, and others.
      A celebration of Armand's life was held at St. Aidan's Church, 1460 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland on September 9th.

      Armand began his newspaper career as an apprentice at the Pawtucket Times, after which he joined the Providence Journal as a compositor for 38 years, retiring in 2001.
