Obituary - Henry Eckford Rose, who was born in Sayville 74 years ago and had lived in this village practically all his life, died at his home at an early hour yesterday morning of pneumonia combined with pleurisy after an illness of about ten days.
He was a son of Orin Rose and Eliza Ann Green. He followed the sea in his younger days and at one time or another had had the command of a number of vessels, but retired some years ago. He leaves one son, Harry E. Rose, with whom he had been associated with in recent years in the management of the shore pavilion at the foot of Foster Avenue. He also leaves two daughters, Mrs. Veeda Bishop, of Patchogue, and Miss Iva May Rose, of New South Wales, Australia.
Funeral services are to take place on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. from St. Ann's Episcopal Church and will be conducted by the Rev. John H. Prescott. Burial to take place in the family plot in the Union Cemetery, where services will be in accordance to the Masonic ritual and will be conducted by members of that fraternity from Patchogue, where the deceased had for many years been affiliated.
