- Great-grandfather Solomon Satterley of Chellesworth sold his interest in his estate and removed to London. He died while on a visit to Cheshire in 1599, leaving 2 sons.
Julian and Jasper (Gasper), who went to Devon with his older brother Julian, settled at Payhembury where (he Jasper) died in 1629. Will, Exeter. (WX-XIV).
In 1599 after his father's death, Grandfather Julian Satterley moved to Devon, settling at Lustleigh, near Exeter, where he died in 1628.(WX) Julian left his son, Nicholas Satterley.

Father Nicholas Satterley settled at Silverton and died there in 1644, leaving 3 children , William, Thomas and Petronilla.
Rev. William Satterley was born at Silferton near Exeter.
Matriculated at Pembroke College Oxford, on 6 Feb 1629, age 19.
Married #1 wife Elizabeth about 1630.
His one son by her was William Satterley, born 1632 (some say Cheshire, Eng.), usually shown as Ide Parish, Devon, England.

Rev. William (b. 1610) received his B.A. in 1633, his M.A. in 1635.
In 1640 he was appointed Vicar of St Ida's Church at Ide. He was arrested by Cromwell and imprisoned for his fealty to King Charles I. Later he was released at the Restoration of King Charles II in 1660.
During his banishment he had married wife #2 in 1645 at Ide in Devon. Her name was also Elizabeth, and she bore 5 sons in Ide Parish, Devon, England:
