    • Betty Jo Morgan, 76, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009.
      Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Westover Fellowship with Jim Guest and Kevin Deckard officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Childress Cemetery in Childress by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
      Mrs. Morgan was born Nov. 28, 1933, in Carey to R. B. and Pauline Howard. She graduated from Childress High School and married Sonny Morgan on June 29, 1950, in Childress. She and her family lived in Redding, Calif., for several years and moved back to Amarillo in 1970. She worked for Howard's Mechanical for many years.
      Betty was an avid golfer and loved playing golf and bridge with her friends. She was a charter member and past president of the Western Lone Star Senior Ladies Golf Association and also was past president of the Canyon Country Club Ladies Auxiliary. She loved spending time with her family camping and fishing in the mountains at South Fork. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved her Lord and loved her church, Westover Fellowship. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
      She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sonny, in 2003; and a son, Gaylon, in 2007.
      Survivors include a daughter; Connie Douglass and husband Paul of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Colten Morgan, Clay Morgan, Kristen Douglass and Bradley Douglass, all of Amarillo; four great-grandchildren, Camryn Barton, Dace Morgan, Lance French and Preston Morgan, all of Amarillo; and a brother, R. W. "Digger" Howard and wife Carolyn of Cave Creek, Ariz.
