      John T. Colson
      Residents of West Sayville and vicinity were shocked to hear of the death early on Sunday morning of John T. Colson, who for about twenty- six years has been a resident of this village. Mr. Colson and his wife had attended a little family party at the home of their daughter Mrs Wolfer Van Popering in Sayville the previous evening and had returned home at about 11:30 in good spirits. After Mr. Colson had been asleep for a short time his wife thought he had a chill but when she tried to awaken him found that he was having convulsions. She summond Dr. Eller however who arrived to late. Mr. Colson having died of a stroke of apoplexy. He had previously suffered several strokes.
      Mr. Colson, who was 71 years of age, was born in Brooklyn. About 14 years a go he came to this village and married Miss Isabelle Tucker, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs William Tucker, who were among the first settlers of this village. Mr. and Mrs. Colson lived for a time Brooklyn and about 26 years ago moved to West Sayville, where they have spent the remaining years. They had moved into their new home on Second street less than a year ago.
      All of his five children are living besides his widow Mrs Colson. His children are William Colson, Mrs . William Miller and Leman Colson of West Sayville. Mrs. George Jorzensen. of Brooklyn and Mrs. Wolfer Van Popering of Sayville. He also leaves two sisters. Mrs. L Brusie and Mr Charles Haney of Brooklyn and 10 grandchildren.
      His brother William Colson formerly an alderman of Brooklyn, died only two weeks ago in Brooklyn.
      Funeral services were conducted from his late home by tie Rev Joseph H. Bond, rector of St. Ann s Episcopal Church, of Sayville . and were attended by the members of the West Sayville Fire Department, of which he was a member for 25 years . Internment was in the Union Cemetery.
