A man whose body was found after a canoe capsized Sunday on Sherwood Lake has been identified by police.
The death of 30-year-old David Stuart Molloy Jr. was ruled an accidental drowning, according to Donna Price, district administrator of the Norfolk Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Molloy and another person were in the canoe about 3:30 p.m. Sunday when it began to take on water and capsized, according to police. It happened in the Sherwood Lakes subdivision, between Princess Anne and Seaboard roads.
When emergency crews arrived, they found the other person holding on to the canoe. They used sonar and other tools to search for Molloy, but halted the search late Sunday.
The body was found the following afternoon.
In 2016, a 34-year-old man also drowned at the lake.
