Obituary
HAMPTON - Richard Arnold Pincus, 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 12, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Cecilia G. Pincus of Hampton, his twelve children and their spouses, Kathy Henley, William Pincus, Mary Adams, Loretta Scheetz, Teresa Ward, Alice Zischkau, Stephen Pincus, Joseph Pincus, Donald Pincus, Thomas Pincus, Janet Williams, and Michael Pincus, and his sister Sue Smith. He also has forty-seven grand children and thirteen great grand children and many nieces and nephews. Of all of his accomplishments, he was proudest to share his faith in the Lord with his wife and all of his children. He used his architectural skills to design Our Lady of Vietnam Catholic Church - Hampton, Virginia, St. Joseph's Catholic Church - Paraiso, Panama Canal Zone, and St. Vincent's Catholic Church - Rainbow City, Panama Canal Zone. He served in the Knights of Columbus, Council 11264. Richard graduated from Catholic University and retired from NASA-Langley as architectural engineer who designed many facilities at NASA. One of his first projects was to assist in the design of the tower that was used to practice the first lunar landing. He was a superb tennis player, an avid fisherman, and also enjoyed gardening. The family will receive friends at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home in Hampton on Friday, November 14, 2014 from 4p.m. - 6 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Hampton on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Hampton Veterans Memorial Gardens with military honors.
