Notes - "He owned the Yaphank grist mill and saw mill, the old Gerard Place, in Fireplace, and probably all of the extensive land holdings owned by Robert Finlely Hawkins, his great-grandson. Robert was a 'Signer of the Association' May 1, 1776, and his wife, Deliverance, donated a gun to the cause of the Colonists, according to Frederick Mather's Refugees From Long Island to Connecticut In 1776, p. 1057.

"The Hawkins family cemetery is located on what was the Robert Hawkins farm in Yaphank. It is now on the East side of Yaphank-Middle Island Road approximately 100 yards south of Raymond St.. All stones were copied by Elbert N. Carter on
August 5, 1962. They were rechecked again on July 25, 1971."
