    Obituary
Maria Jane Brown, widow of William Brown, former residents of Babylon, died at her home in Huntington on Monday of last week, aged 69 years. She was born in Patchogue, on December 28, 1845, daughter of Richard and Katherine Green Woodland (Woodhull). She married Mr. Brown on December 24, 1864. He died about 40 years ago. After a short residence at Babylon Mrs. Brown went to Huntington about 35 years ago. She engaged in the millinery and fancy goods business and continued the same for 25 years until ill health compelled her to retire. No children were ever born to her. An adopted daughter, Miss Annie Peak, who cared for Mrs. Brown, survives.
The funeral was held Wednesday evening. The Rev. M. D. Fuller, pastor of the Baptist church, of which deceased was an active and conscientious member, was in charge. The remains were taken to Babylon on Thursday for interment beside those of her husband in the Rural cemetery.
