    Obituary for James Wheelwright, Sr.James Joseph WheelwrightStockton JimSeptember 20th 1915 March 24th 2013 James was born September 20th, 1915 to Adeline Quinton Wheelwright and Hilbert Wheelwright in Long Island, New York. He went to Officer Candidate School for the US Army in 1942. At the start of WWII he was in the 5th wave at Omaha Beach and served in the Battle of the Bulge. James was given a battlefield promotion of First Lieutenant and completed his service in April 1946. His heroic actions were recognized by receipt of the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and British Military Cross Medals. He had a career in photography until he retired. He married 3 times and his last wife Kay Wheelwright passed March 2nd 2005. At 97 he lived a full life which included driving, playing cards, some golf and movies. James passed away early morning March 24th 2013. He is survived by sons Bruce Overmier of St. Paul, Mn, James Wheelwright, Jr. of Jacksonville, Fl, Mark McDowell of Sacramento, Ca, and Brad Wheelwright of Cool, Ca. Additionally he is survived by 6 grand children, and 7 great grandchildren. He was a wonderful brother, dad, grandfather, and great grandfather and will be remembered with a smile by his many friends and family. James services will be held on April 2nd 2013 at 12:00pm at Sacramento Memorial Lawn at 6100 Stockton Blvd. Sacramento, Ca 95820.
