      Elmer Richard Solomon, age 85 a retired Cowan Genesco worker, died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Mattie Amacher, Friday following an extended illness.
      Son of the late James Richard and Ella Lewis Solomon, he was a native of Moore County and was born October 29, 1895.
      He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cowan.
      Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. from the parlors at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. The Rev. J. D. May will officiate and burail will be in Franklin Memorial Gardens.
      In addition to his daughter, he is survived by a son, James Solomon, of Tampa, Florida, two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two half-sisters, Mrs. Don Larkin of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, and Mrs. Kent Gamble of Belvidere; six half-brothers, Houston Solomon of Lexie Cross Roads community, J. D. Solomon of Tullahoma, and Bill Solomon, John Solomon, Fred Solomon, and Ed Solomon, all of Winchester.
