      HAMPTON — Eugene T. Hill, 69, of Hampton died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 10, 1999, at Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News.
      He was born Dec. 22, 1929, in Johnsonburg, Pa., son of the late Solon Monroe Hill and Theresa Conneen Hill. He graduated from Johnsonburg High School in 1947 and graduated from George Washington University with a bachelor of science degree.
      He served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, serving in the Korean conflict overseas. After his discharge from the Air Force, he worked as an engineering technician at the Naval Aviation Station in Norfolk for 13 years, retiring in 1993.
      He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church in York County for more than 30 years.
      He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Mary Imbrogno Hill; four sons, David A. of Dallas, Daniel R. of Williamsburg, Lawrence J. of Grafton and John C. of Hampton; four daughters, Leslie Lowery and Jeanne (Mrs. Louis) Case, both of Yorktown, Lorraine (Mrs. Rudy) Dinga of Smithfield and Lois (Mrs. Jaime) Rodriguez of Hampton. Also surviving is a sister, Frances Glover of Johnsonburg, Pa.; and 17 grandchildren.
      In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James M. "Bud" Hill.
      A Mass of Christian burial was conducted at Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, on March 13, with a burial after in Holy Rosary Cemetery. Military rites were rendered under the direction of the Johnsonburg-Wilcox Servicemen's Burial Detail.
