- Martha Elizabeth Frieze was born in 1856 in Missouri to Martin L. and Dorcas Frieze. She grew up in Laclede County, Missouri and married Thomas Alfred Partlow there in 1875.
Thomas and Mattie had four children -- Charles Amos, Maude Mary, Myrtle J., and Alpha Thomas Partlow. Thomas died in a tragic hunting accident in December 1882. While he was hunting alone, his horse stumbled and fell on him, causing his firearm to discharge and kill him. Martha and the children remained in Laclede County until about 1905. Two of her daughters had married by then and the entire extended family, including Martha and her two single adult children, migrated to Cascade County, Montana, where they remained the rest of their lives. Martha's third daughter married in Montana. Her son Charles also married but was divorced and remained single. When he died in Canada his remains were shipped back to Montana and buried beside his mother. They share a double tombstone.

PARTLOW - Mrs. Martha Elizabeth Partlow, age 65 years, who has been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. J. W. Carter of 1309 Seventh Avenue North, died in this city yesterday afternoon. The funeral will be held at the chapel of the W. H. George Co. at 2 o'clock tomorrow (Friday) afternoon. The Rev. E. E. Francis of the Christian church will officiate. Burial will be in Highland cemetery.
